The Wolfgang Orchestra & Chorus was originally organized
in the summer of 2006 as “Wolfgang Classical Wind Ensemble,” consisting of 17 youth and adult players. ‘Wolfgang’
continued to evolve, season by season. In September 2008 the Wolfgang Singers were added and in 2010 Strings were added as
well. Now in our 11th year, Wolfgang is an Orchestra and Chorus with approximately 70 musicians.
The Directors continue to recruit musicians and reach out to those who want and need
music in their lives. The express purpose of Wolfgang Orchestra & Chorus is "to rehearse and perform in
a group of equally talented adults and students, playing great classical music and inspirational songs."
You are invited to join Wolfgang for the Summer Season
beginning in June. Adult players are expected to have a minimum of 6 years past playing experience, and youth players must
audition and study privately. Vocalists are required to have a good voice, and a minimum of two years previous experience
singing with a choir or choral group. Membership acceptance is contingent upon instrumentation and vocal needs as determined
by the directors.
Wolfgang has three seasons per year; Spring, Summer and Christmas
with final concerts in New Harmony, Evansville and Mt. Vernon, Indiana. Wolfgang goes on vacation for approximately
one month between seasons.
Musicians interested in performing with Wolfgang should contact
the director, Melanie Edling at edlingm8@gmail.com for more information.
